Simple Divi Shortcode
- <= 1.2
A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Simple Divi Shortcode plugin for WordPress, affecting versions through 1.2. The issue arises in the 'showmodule' shortcode, specifically through the 'id' parameter. The vulnerability is caused by inadequate input sanitization and output escaping in the 'showmodule_shortcode()' function, which directly incorporates the 'id' attribute into a dynamically generated shortcode string without proper escaping. This oversight allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages, which are executed when users access the modified pages.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.
Users can update to version 1.2.1 or a newer patched version to address this vulnerability.
