The Plus Addons for Elementor Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Plus Addons for Elementor WordPress plugin, affecting versions through 6.4.15. The issue arises in the Carousel Anything widget, where the 'carousel_direction' parameter is improperly sanitized before being output into an HTML attribute. This flaw allows authenticated users with contributor-level access or higher to inject malicious scripts that execute when the affected page is viewed.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with contributor-level access or higher can inject a script through the 'carousel_direction' parameter of the Carousel Anything widget. The injected script will be executed when the page is accessed.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Plus Addons for Elementor plugin to version 6.4.16 or later.
