MISP Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in Template Element Attribute Handling

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in MISP versions prior to 2.5.37. This issue arises from improper validation of input in the template element attribute type and category fields, allowing attackers to inject arbitrary values. The vulnerability affects the old templating engine, which will be removed in version 2.5.38.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user.

Remediation

Users can update to MISP version 2.5.38 or later, where this vulnerability has been addressed.
