Cost of Goods WooCommerce Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Cost of Goods: Product Cost & Profit Calculator for WooCommerce plugin, affecting all versions through 4.1.0. The vulnerability arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the 'alg_wc_cog_product_cost' and 'alg_wc_cog_product_profit' shortcodes. This flaw allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into pages, which are executed when users access the affected page.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with contributor-level access or higher can use the 'alg_wc_cog_product_cost' or 'alg_wc_cog_product_profit' shortcodes to inject scripts. The injected scripts will be executed when the page is accessed.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Cost of Goods for WooCommerce plugin to version 4.1.1 or later.
