WooCommerce Call for Price Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Call for Price for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 4.2.0. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with administrator-level permissions to inject arbitrary scripts. This vulnerability is particularly concerning in multi-site installations where unfiltered HTML is disabled, as the injected scripts can execute when users access the affected pages.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with administrator privileges can navigate to the Call for Price settings in WooCommerce. Here, they can enter unsanitized script into a textarea designated for 'Call for Price' labels. Once saved, this script will be executed whenever a user accesses a page that includes the injected label, demonstrating the cross-site scripting vulnerability.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Call for Price for WooCommerce plugin to version 4.3.0 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
