CodeAstro Online Classroom SQL Injection Vulnerability in addvideos.php
Vulnerability
A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in CodeAstro Online Classroom version 1.0. The issue resides in the addvideos.php file within the Parameter Handler component. The vulnerability is triggered by manipulating the videotitle parameter, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This flaw can be exploited remotely, potentially leading to unauthorized database access, data manipulation, and leakage of sensitive information.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, enabling attackers to interfere with database queries. This could result in unauthorized data access, data modification or deletion, and exposure of sensitive information.
Reproduction
The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to the OnlineClassroom/addvideos.php endpoint. Include the videotitle parameter with a crafted payload that exploits the SQL injection flaw, such as a time-based blind SQL injection payload that uses SQL injection techniques to manipulate the database query execution.
Remediation
It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
