Open ISES Tickets Reflected Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in patient.php

Vulnerability

A reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in Open ISES Tickets versions prior to 3.44.2. The issue resides in patient.php, where authenticated attackers can inject arbitrary JavaScript. This is achieved by passing an unsanitized value through the id and ticket_id GET parameters, which is then directly inserted into an HTML form action URL. When the response is rendered, the injected JavaScript executes in the victim's browser.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected cross-site scripting, where an attacker can inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, send a request to patient.php with the id and ticket_id GET parameters. Include a JavaScript payload in these parameters. When the response is rendered in the browser, the injected script will execute, demonstrating the cross-site scripting vulnerability.

Remediation

Users are advised to upgrade to Open ISES Tickets version 3.44.2 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
