Open ISES Tickets Reflected Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in add_nm.php

Vulnerability

A reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in Open ISES Tickets versions prior to 3.44.2. The issue resides in the add_nm.php file, where authenticated attackers can inject arbitrary JavaScript. This is achieved by sending an unsanitized value through the ticket_id POST parameter, which is then directly inserted into an HTML form input value attribute and an inline JavaScript string literal. When the response is rendered, the injected JavaScript executes in the victim's browser.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user's browser.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user can send a request to the add_nm.php page with a crafted ticket_id POST parameter. The injected JavaScript will be executed in the user's browser when the response is received.

Remediation

Users are advised to upgrade to Open ISES Tickets version 3.44.2 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
