Block, Suspend, Report for BuddyPress Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Block, Suspend, Report for BuddyPress plugin for WordPress, affecting versions through 3.6.4. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access and above to inject arbitrary scripts into pages. These scripts are executed when a user accesses the compromised page.

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with subscriber-level access or higher can inject a script through the 'link' parameter in the reporting feature of the plugin. The injected script will be executed when the reported content is viewed.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Block, Suspend, Report for BuddyPress plugin to version 3.6.5 or a newer patched version.
