A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the LightPress Lightbox plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 2.3.4. The issue arises from the plugin's handling of the 'group' attribute in the '[gallery]' shortcode, where it includes the attribute value without proper escaping. This flaw allows authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into pages, which are executed when users view the affected page.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.
Users are advised to update the LightPress Lightbox plugin to version 2.3.5 or a newer patched version.
