GitLab EE Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in Analytics Dashboards

Vulnerability

A cross-site scripting vulnerability has been addressed in GitLab Enterprise Edition (EE) versions 18.2 prior to 18.8.9, 18.9 prior to 18.9.5, and 18.10 prior to 18.10.3. This vulnerability allowed authenticated users to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the context of other users' browsers within customizable analytics dashboards, due to inadequate input sanitization.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allowed for cross-site scripting, where an attacker could inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.

Remediation

Users are advised to upgrade to GitLab EE versions 18.10.3, 18.9.5, or 18.8.9. Instructions for updating GitLab can be found on the GitLab Update page. Note that the SLES 12.5 packages for 18.10.3 and 18.9.5 are not available.
