A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's handling of the Generic Command (GENERIC_CMD) register for IPA version 5.0 and later has been addressed. The issue arose because the field masks did not align with the hardware layout specified in the downstream GSI documentation. This mismatch caused a warning when attempting to send a 'stop' command to the MPSS remote processor while the IPA was active. The vulnerability was present in the Linux kernel stable tree.
The vulnerability could lead to incorrect handling of register commands, potentially causing issues in communication with the MPSS remote processor.
The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a 'stop' command to the MPSS remote processor while the IPA is active. This will trigger a warning due to the incorrect field mask handling in the GENERIC_CMD register for IPA version 5.0 and later.
Users can upgrade to the latest version of the Linux kernel stable tree, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
