WPMK Block Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the WPMK Block plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.0.1. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied shortcode attributes. Specifically, the 'class' attribute can be manipulated and injected into an HTML div element's class attribute without proper escaping. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages, which will execute when a user accesses the affected page.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Remediation

No known patch is available. Users are advised to review the vulnerability details and consider uninstalling the affected plugin.
