Tenda W3 Stack-Based Buffer Overflow Vulnerability in POST Parameter Handler
Vulnerability
A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in the Tenda W3 router, specifically in version 1.0.0.3(2204). The issue arises in the POST parameter handler for the file '/goform/wifiSSIDset', where the 'index' and 'GO' parameters are processed. The vulnerability can be exploited remotely by sending a crafted POST request that manipulates these parameters, leading to stack memory corruption. This flaw has been publicly disclosed and is accompanied by a proof-of-concept exploit.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability causes a stack-based buffer overflow, which can lead to stack memory corruption, application crashes, and potentially allow for arbitrary code execution.
Reproduction
To reproduce this vulnerability, send a POST request to '/goform/wifiSSIDset' with an excessively long 'index' or 'GO' parameter. The request should include headers typical of a web browser, such as 'User-Agent' and 'Referer'.
