Open ISES Tickets Reflected Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in Open ISES Tickets versions prior to 3.44.2. The issue resides in the 'routes_nm.php' file, where authenticated attackers can inject arbitrary JavaScript. This is achieved by sending an unsanitized value through the 'ticket_id' GET parameter, which is then inserted into a hidden input field's VALUE attribute. When the crafted URL is accessed, the JavaScript payload executes in the victim's browser.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected cross-site scripting, where an attacker can inject and execute malicious scripts in the context of the user's browser.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user must send a request to 'routes_nm.php' with a crafted 'ticket_id' parameter that includes a JavaScript payload. The unsanitized value is injected into a hidden input field, which can then execute the script in the user's browser when the page is loaded.

Remediation

Users are advised to upgrade to Open ISES Tickets version 3.44.2 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
