Open ISES Tickets Reflected Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in Open ISES Tickets versions prior to 3.44.2. The issue resides in single.php, where authenticated attackers can inject arbitrary JavaScript. This is achieved by passing an unsanitized value through the ticket_id GET parameter, which is then directly inserted into an HTML attribute. When the crafted URL is accessed, the JavaScript payload executes in the victim's browser.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected cross-site scripting, where an attacker can inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, send a request to single.php with a crafted ticket_id GET parameter that includes a JavaScript payload. Ensure that the request is made by an authenticated user, as the vulnerability only affects authenticated users.

Remediation

Users are advised to upgrade to Open ISES Tickets version 3.44.2 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
