A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Post SMTP WordPress plugin, specifically in versions through 3.8.0. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts. These scripts would execute when a user accesses the compromised page. This vulnerability is exploitable only if the Post SMTP Pro plugin is installed and its Reporting and Tracking extension is active.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the affected page.
Users can update to version 3.9.0 or a newer patched version to address this vulnerability.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
