itsourcecode E-Logbook with Health Monitoring System SQL Injection Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A SQL injection vulnerability exists in itsourcecode E-Logbook with Health Monitoring System for COVID-19 version 1.0. The issue is located in the file '/check_profile_old.php', where the 'profile_id' parameter is not properly sanitized before being used in SQL queries. This flaw allows remote attackers to inject malicious SQL code, potentially leading to unauthorized database access, data manipulation, and disruption of service.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, where attackers can manipulate database queries. This could result in unauthorized access to the database, leakage of sensitive information, alteration of data, and in some cases, execution of administrative operations on the database.

Reproduction

The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to 'check_profile_old.php' with an injected payload in the 'profile_id' parameter. The injected SQL code can be crafted to exploit the application's database query handling, such as by using time-based blind SQL injection techniques.

Remediation

It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection. Input validation and filtering should be implemented to ensure user input conforms to expected formats. Additionally, minimize database user permissions and conduct regular security audits.
