AI Chatbot & Workflow Automation by AIWU Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the AI Chatbot & Workflow Automation by AIWU plugin for WordPress, affecting versions through 1.4.14. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts via the 'X-Forwarded-For' header. These injected scripts are executed when users access the compromised pages. However, exploitation is limited by a 20-character storage cap on the injected script.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the affected page.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the plugin to version 1.4.15 or a newer patched version.
