ImageMagick Integer Overflow Vulnerability in SIXEL Decoder Allowing Out-of-Bounds Write

Vulnerability

A moderate integer overflow vulnerability has been identified in the SIXEL decoder of ImageMagick versions prior to 7.1.2-16. This vulnerability allows attackers to perform out-of-bounds writes by exploiting specially crafted images.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability leads to out-of-bounds writes, which can commonly result in memory corruption or arbitrary code execution.

Remediation

Users can upgrade to ImageMagick version 7.1.2-16 or later to address this vulnerability.
