ThemeREX M.Williamson Local File Inclusion Vulnerability
Vulnerability
A local file inclusion vulnerability has been identified in the WordPress theme M.Williamson, specifically in versions through 1.2.11. This vulnerability arises from improper control of filenames in include or require statements, allowing PHP remote file inclusion.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unauthorized inclusion of local files on the server, potentially allowing attackers to access sensitive information such as database credentials. Depending on the server configuration, this could result in a complete takeover of the database.
Remediation
Users are advised to update to a version of the M.Williamson theme later than 1.2.11. Patchstack has also issued a mitigation rule to block attacks targeting this vulnerability.
