Adobe InDesign Out-of-Bounds Read Vulnerability Allowing Arbitrary Code Execution

Vulnerability

A vulnerability allowing out-of-bounds read has been identified in Adobe InDesign Desktop versions 20.5.2, 21.2 and earlier. This vulnerability arises when the application parses a crafted file, potentially leading to reading past the end of an allocated memory structure. An attacker could exploit this issue to execute code in the context of the current user. Exploitation requires user interaction, as the victim must open a malicious file.

Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to arbitrary code execution on the affected system.

Remediation

Users can update to Adobe InDesign version 21.3 or 20.5.3. For managed environments, IT administrators can use the Creative Cloud Packager to create deployment packages.
