Unlimited Elements for Elementor Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Unlimited Elements for Elementor WordPress plugin, affecting all versions through 2.0.5. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping of form submission data, which is displayed in the admin Form Entries Trash view. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts that are executed when an administrator views the trashed form entries.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the form entries.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an unauthenticated user can submit a form using the Unlimited Elements for Elementor plugin. The submitted form data is not properly sanitized, allowing for the injection of scripts. Once the form entry is submitted, it can be trashed and the injected script will execute when an administrator views the trashed entries.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Unlimited Elements for Elementor plugin to version 2.0.6 or later.
