Gogs DOM-Based Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in Milestone Names

Vulnerability

A DOM-based cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in Gogs, an open-source self-hosted Git service, affecting versions through 0.14.1. The issue arises when an attacker stores an HTML/JavaScript payload in a repository's Milestone name. When another user selects that Milestone on the New Issue page, the injected script is executed, leading to cross-site scripting.

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for DOM-based cross-site scripting, where an injected script is executed in the context of the user's browser.

Remediation

Users can upgrade to Gogs version 0.14.2 or later to address this vulnerability.
