WordPress KIDZ Theme PHP Object Injection Vulnerability

A deserialization vulnerability allowing object injection has been identified in the WordPress KIDZ theme, affecting versions through 5.24. This vulnerability arises from the improper handling of untrusted data, which could potentially be exploited to execute arbitrary code, inject malicious SQL, traverse file paths, cause denial-of-service conditions, and more, if a suitable object injection chain is available.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to PHP object injection, allowing for a range of attacks including code execution, SQL injection, path traversal, and denial-of-service, especially if a proper object injection chain is utilized.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the WordPress KIDZ theme to version 5.25 or later. Patchstack has also issued a mitigation rule to block attacks targeting this vulnerability until the update is applied.
