Quiz Maker Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Quiz Maker plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 6.7.1.7. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the 'vc_quizmaker' shortcode. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into pages, which are executed when users access the affected pages. Notably, this vulnerability requires WPBakery Page Builder to be installed and active.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Remediation

Users can update to Quiz Maker version 6.7.1.8 or a newer patched version to address this vulnerability.
