Intel QAT Software Drivers for Windows Denial-of-Service Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in some Intel QAT software drivers for Windows, prior to version 1.13. The issue arises from improper input validation, which may allow an unprivileged software adversary with an authenticated user to disrupt service. This vulnerability can potentially be exploited through local access, without special internal knowledge, and requires no user interaction. The vulnerability may impact the system's confidentiality, integrity, and availability, leading to a complete loss of availability on the affected system.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability can cause a denial-of-service condition, disrupting normal system operations and causing a significant impact on availability.

Remediation

Users are advised to update Intel QAT software drivers for Windows to version 1.13 or later. The latest drivers can be downloaded from the Intel Download Center. For users with Intel QAT Adapters version 2.0, drivers version 2.6.0 or later should be installed.
