A high-severity out-of-bounds write vulnerability has been identified in the WLAN access point firmware of certain MediaTek chipsets. This issue arises from an incorrect bounds check, which could allow for remote (proximal/adjacent) escalation of privilege without requiring additional execution privileges or user interaction. The vulnerability affects the MT6890, MT7915, MT7916, MT7981, and MT7986 chipsets.
Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unauthorized escalation of privileges, allowing a user to gain elevated rights or access within the system.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
