MediaTek WLAN Privilege Escalation Vulnerability via Heap Buffer Overflow

Vulnerability

A heap buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in the WLAN component of certain MediaTek chipsets, including the MT6890, MT7615, MT7915, MT7916, MT7981, and MT7986. This vulnerability allows for an out-of-bounds write, which could lead to remote (proximal/adjacent) escalation of privilege. Exploitation does not require additional execution privileges or user interaction.

Exploitation of this vulnerability could result in unauthorized privilege escalation.
