WPBookit Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the WPBookit plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.0.8. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts. These scripts are executed when users access the compromised pages.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user.

Reproduction

The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a request to the WordPress site with the 'wpb_user_name' or 'wpb_user_email' parameters, containing the script to be injected. This can be done through the WPBookit booking form, which does not properly sanitize these fields before saving the data. Once the script is injected, it will be executed whenever the page is accessed.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the WPBookit plugin to version 1.0.9 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
