Tour & Activity Operator Plugin for WordPress Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Tour & Activity Operator Plugin for TourCMS, affecting all versions through 1.7.0. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping in the 'target' parameter of the tourcms_doc_link shortcode. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into pages, which are executed when users access the affected pages.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with Contributor-level access or higher can inject scripts by using the tourcms_doc_link shortcode with a malicious payload in the 'target' parameter. Once the shortcode is processed, the injected script will be executed when the page is viewed.

Remediation

No known patch is available. It is recommended to uninstall the affected plugin and find a replacement.
