A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Download Manager plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 3.3.61. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts via the 'note_before' and 'note_after' shortcode attributes. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, enabling the execution of injected scripts when users access the affected pages.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.
To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with contributor-level access or higher can inject scripts by adding a shortcode with 'note_before' or 'note_after' attributes that include the desired script payload. Once the shortcode is rendered on a page, the injected script will execute in the user's browser.
Users are advised to update the Download Manager plugin to version 3.3.62 or later.
