SIBS WooCommerce Payment Gateway SQL Injection Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A time-based SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in the SIBS WooCommerce Payment Gateway plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 2.2.0. The vulnerability arises from inadequate escaping of user-supplied data in the 'referencedId' parameter, allowing authenticated attackers with Administrator-level access to inject additional SQL queries. This exploitation could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive information in the database.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for time-based SQL injection, where an attacker can manipulate SQL queries to extract sensitive data from the database.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with Administrator privileges can send a request to the WordPress site with the 'referencedId' parameter. The lack of proper input sanitization allows for the injection of malicious SQL code, which is executed by the database. This can be done by appending SQL commands to the 'referencedId' parameter, exploiting the vulnerable SQL query handling in the plugin.

Remediation

No patch is currently available. Users are advised to uninstall the affected plugin and consider a replacement.
