- <= 5.0.10
A reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the RSS Aggregator plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 5.0.10. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes, particularly the 'template' parameter. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages, which could be executed if a user is tricked into clicking a link.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected cross-site scripting, where an attacker can inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.
To reproduce this vulnerability, send a request to a page that uses the RSS Aggregator plugin with the 'template' parameter set to a value that includes the injected script. The lack of proper sanitization will allow the script to be executed when the link is clicked.
Users are advised to update the RSS Aggregator plugin to version 5.0.11 or later.
