Happy Addons for Elementor Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability
Vulnerability
A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Happy Addons for Elementor plugin for WordPress. This issue affects all versions through 3.20.7 and arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These scripts are executed when a user accesses the compromised page.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.
Reproduction
To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with Contributor-level access or higher can inject scripts through the '_elementor_data' meta field. This can be done by uploading a custom SVG file via the SVG Draw widget or by using the Age Gate widget to add a script into the description or warning message fields. Once the script is injected, it will execute when the page is viewed.
Remediation
Users are advised to update the Happy Addons for Elementor plugin to version 3.20.8 or a newer patched version.
