A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in SourceCodester Water Billing System version 1.0. The issue arises in the file edit.php, where insufficient validation of the 'id' parameter allows attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication, leading to unauthorized access to the database, data manipulation, and potential disruption of service.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for unauthorized database access, manipulation or deletion of data, leakage of sensitive information, and could disrupt service availability.
The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a request to edit.php with a crafted 'id' parameter that includes malicious SQL code. This can be done using SQL injection tools like sqlmap, which automates the process of finding and exploiting SQL injection vulnerabilities.
It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
