A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in SourceCodester Online Book Store version 1.0. The issue arises in the file publisher_list.php, where the pubid parameter is not properly validated, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows unauthorized access to the database, where attackers can manipulate or delete data and access sensitive information. Such actions pose a significant risk to system security and data integrity.
To reproduce this vulnerability, send a request to the bookPerPub.php file with a crafted pubid parameter that includes malicious SQL code. The injection point can be verified by using a tool like sqlmap to extract database information.
It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
