SourceCodester Online Polling System SQL Injection Vulnerability in Checklogin.php

Vulnerability

A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in SourceCodester Online Polling System Code version 1.0. The issue resides in the file '/admin/checklogin.php', where the 'myusername' parameter is manipulated, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication.

Impact

Injected SQL payloads can be used to exploit the vulnerability, such as boolean-based blind SQL injection or time-based blind SQL injection, by appending crafted SQL injection payloads that manipulate the SQL query execution.

Remediation

It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
