itsourcecode Apartment Management System SQL Injection Vulnerability in Year Setup File
Vulnerability
A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in the itsourcecode Apartment Management System version 1.0. The issue resides in the '/setting/year_setup.php' file, where the 'MULTIPART txtXYear' parameter is manipulated to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication, allowing attackers to gain unauthorized access to the database, modify or delete data, and access sensitive information.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, enabling attackers to manipulate database queries. This could lead to unauthorized data access, data modification or deletion, and in some cases, executing administrative operations on the database.
Reproduction
The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to the '/setting/year_setup.php' file with the 'txtXYear' parameter. The injection payload should be crafted to exploit the SQL query handling of the application. This can be done using SQL injection tools like sqlmap, which automates the process of finding and exploiting SQL injection vulnerabilities.
Remediation
It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection. Additionally, input validation and filtering should be implemented to ensure user input conforms to expected formats. Minimizing database user permissions and conducting regular security audits can also help mitigate such vulnerabilities.
