Admin Menu Editor Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Admin Menu Editor plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.14. This vulnerability arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping in the 'placeholder' parameter. Authenticated attackers with Author-level access or higher can exploit this issue to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages, which are executed when users access the affected pages.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with Author-level access or higher can use the 'ame-user-info' shortcode and include a crafted 'placeholder' parameter. The injected script will be executed when the page is accessed by a user.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Admin Menu Editor plugin to version 1.14.1 or later.
