Projectworlds Online Admission System SQL Injection Vulnerability in viewform.php

Vulnerability

A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in version 1.0 of the Projectworlds Online Admission System. The issue resides in the viewform.php file, where the ID parameter is manipulated, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication, potentially leading to unauthorized database access, data modification or deletion, and exposure of sensitive information.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, enabling attackers to manipulate database queries. This could result in unauthorized data access, data leakage, data modification or deletion, and in some cases, executing commands on the server.

Reproduction

The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a crafted HTTP request to viewform.php with an injected payload in the ID parameter. The payload should exploit the time-based blind SQL injection vulnerability by using a SQL injection technique that leverages the database's response time to infer information.

Remediation

It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
