Discussion Board WordPress Forum Plugin Arbitrary Shortcode Execution Vulnerability

A vulnerability allowing authenticated users with Subscriber-level access and above to execute arbitrary shortcodes has been identified in the Discussion Board – WordPress Forum Plugin, affecting all versions through 2.5.5. The issue arises because the plugin does not properly validate values before executing them with the do_shortcode function.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for arbitrary shortcode execution, which could be used to manipulate content or functionality on the WordPress site.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Discussion Board – WordPress Forum Plugin to version 2.5.6 or a newer patched version.
