SureForms WordPress Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the SureForms WordPress plugin, affecting versions prior to 1.9.1. The issue arises because the plugin fails to properly sanitize and escape certain parameters before outputting them on the page. This flaw could enable users with admin privileges or higher to execute cross-site scripting attacks.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the affected page.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, create a new form and add a text block. Enable the 'Use Labels as Placeholders' option, then input a crafted text field value that includes a JavaScript event handler, such as an 'onmouseover' attribute, and preview the form. Hovering over the text block will trigger the injected script.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the SureForms WordPress plugin to version 1.9.1 or later.
