Code-Projects Exam Form Submission SQL Injection Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in the Code-Projects Exam Form Submission application, version 1.0. The issue resides in the admin file, where the email parameter is manipulated, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows unauthorized access to the database, where attackers can read, modify, or delete data. It also poses a risk of accessing sensitive information and could lead to a complete compromise of the system.

Reproduction

The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to the '/admin/' endpoint with the 'email' parameter. Various payloads can be used to exploit the SQL injection, such as boolean-based blind injections or error-based injections that leverage SQL injection vulnerabilities to extract database information.

Remediation

It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
