Events Addon for Elementor Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Events Addon for Elementor plugin for WordPress. This issue affects all versions through 2.2.9 and arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages, which are executed when users access the affected pages. The Typewriter and Countdown widgets are specifically impacted.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Remediation

Users can update to version 2.3.0 or a newer patched version to address this vulnerability.
