A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the aThemes Addons for Elementor plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.1.2. The issue arises in the Countdown widget, where insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes allow authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts. These scripts are executed when a user accesses the affected page.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.
To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with contributor-level access or higher can inject scripts into the Countdown widget by exploiting the lack of proper input sanitization and output escaping. Once the scripts are injected, they will be executed when the page is viewed by any user.
Users are advised to update the aThemes Addons for Elementor plugin to version 1.1.3 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
