Drupal COOKiES Consent Management Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in the COOKiES Consent Management module for Drupal. This issue affects versions prior to 1.2.16. The vulnerability arises from improper handling of 'data-src' attributes, which can be exploited to inject malicious content, particularly when specific classes are applied to the HTML elements. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must have the appropriate permissions to make certain HTML elements visible to all users.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for cross-site scripting, where an attacker can inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.

Remediation

Users are advised to upgrade to COOKiES Consent Management version 1.2.16.
