A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in Campcodes Sales and Inventory System version 1.0. The issue resides in the Setting Handler component, specifically within the '/pages/settings_update.php' file. The vulnerability is triggered by manipulating the 'id' parameter, which is improperly sanitized before being used in SQL queries. This flaw allows remote attackers to inject malicious SQL code, potentially leading to unauthorized database access, data manipulation, and exposure of sensitive information.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, enabling attackers to interfere with the application's database queries. This could result in unauthorized data access, data modification or deletion, and in some cases, executing administrative operations on the database.
To reproduce this vulnerability, send a POST request to '/pages/settings_update.php' with an 'id' parameter that includes a crafted SQL payload. The injection can be verified by using a payload that, for example, extracts the name of the current database.
It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection. Additionally, input validation and filtering should be implemented to ensure user input conforms to expected formats. Minimizing database user permissions and conducting regular security audits are also advisable.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
