Askey Modems Stack-Based Buffer Overflow Vulnerability Allowing Remote Code Execution

Vulnerability

A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in certain modem models developed by Askey, specifically the RTF8207w and RTF8217, running firmware versions prior to R82XXR250718. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated remote attackers to manipulate the program's execution flow, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution.

Exploitation of this vulnerability could allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on the affected device.

Remediation
