Tenda AX1803 Stack-Based Buffer Overflow Vulnerability in MAC Filter Configuration

Vulnerability

A critical stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in the Tenda AX1803 router running version 1.0.0.1. The issue arises in the 'formSetMacFilterCfg' function within the '/goform/setMacFilterCfg' file, where the 'deviceList' parameter can be manipulated, leading to memory corruption. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, and a public proof-of-concept exploit is available.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability causes a stack-based buffer overflow, which can lead to arbitrary code execution or other malicious actions by overwriting the return address on the stack.

Reproduction

The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a crafted request to the '/goform/setMacFilterCfg' endpoint. The 'deviceList' parameter must be manipulated to exceed the buffer limit, causing a stack-based overflow. This can be done remotely, without authentication.
